October 2021 Clinical Supervision Topic: Self-Compassion
One of my hopes for all of you I supervise is that you develop a strong sense of self-compassion as you do this incredibly challenging, rewarding, and, let’s be honest, sometimes shitty work. Every single one of you puts so much heart and care into the relationships you develop. My hope is that you know how to give all of that kind attunement to yourself as well. Honestly, I’m not sure how this can be a sustainable career otherwise!
Self-compassion is well-researched topic proven to improve all kinds of good outcomes! Please read more about it here in preparation for our sessions this month. Wondering about your own self-compassion practices? Feel free to check out this Self Compassion Scale Short Form and see what’s easier or more difficult for you.
As we come together this month, I’d love to know:
A favorite character of yours in media that exemplifies self-compassion.
When in your work you need self-compassion most.
Which of your clients most need support developing this skillset?
I’ll be sharing some of Kristen Neff’s meditations throughout the month too. See you all soon!
