Therapeutic alliance accounts for 7.5% of the variability in outcomes, coming in third after goal consensus and empathy. However, I’d argue that goal consensus and empathy are part of the therapeutic relationship. So if you remember anything, remember that what matters most is the relationship.
Two things I want to know: how do *you* define therapeutic alliance? And how do you measure the quality of alliance/relationship you have with each client?

For our clinical supervision sessions in April, we’re going to create some space to discuss the personal and professional impacts of COVID-19 and also continue our conversations around therapeutic alliance. We’ll keep it simple, compassionate and supportive this month. I know you are all strong and competent, but you are also carrying a lot. It’s my hope that our work together makes you feel not alone, and gives you more creativity, self-and-other-compassion, and some joy as you work through this time.
Our August Clinical Supervision Group Topic is Eliciting Feedback. Eliciting feedback leads to greater clinical outcomes and client-clinical alliance. Let’s practice our skills together.
