Are you interested in starting a private practice? I’m going to be honest and say I think most people can, and should. Even if it is just your one-night-a-week, four-hour-side-hustle. Why should you start a business, or grow the one you have? Here are just a few reasons:
Firstly, it’s fun. It’s so fun owning and developing a business. It’s an empowering and creative challenge. You can create a business that is trauma-informed and anti-oppressive, that directly challenges and changes the culture of business in our world. The positive experience of building a business translates directly into the positive energy you have for your clients.
Secondly, because you can. I have not yet met a clinician who didn’t have a very specific niche that I knew they could excel in, and that was very greatly needed in the community.
Thirdly, it’s financially wise. You can choose to diversify your income, and put a bit more of the income-earning directly into your own hands. It increases your financial health, personal satisfaction and most importantly your connection to community.
Fourthly, your clinical skillset will improve significantly.
Fifthly, you can show up for the people you most want to serve in the way you think is best. You write the rule book. (You know, the ethics-based rule book.)
I now provide all business services, including the 8-week private practice program, over at Lloyd Collective, LLC. Come find me!
